Email Design Tips

email design tipsSocial medias are used as a powerful online marketing tool nowadays and it might look like emails lost their marketing battle. However, emails are still one of the most important marketing technique and an increasing number of marketers use them. However, not every email will do its marketing job and email designers are aware of that fact. How to design emails that will improve subscriber engagement and in general help the business? Here are some useful email design tips. If you are not familiar with some HTML tools, there are available free generators for almost everything.

  • Tables are again in trend and you should definitely use them. However, keep in mind that email clients mostly do not support CSS layout anymore, so cell-spacing is what you should do as it was done back in the 90s.
  • Be modest when using images. Not only because of the minimalistic preferences of the modern design, but also because you should design email with elements that most email clients support. Background images should be avoided and you should definitely focus on static images. Interactive elements will not work. Of course, this does not mean that you should avoid using any images in email designs. On the contrary, it is important to have something unique and distinct in your email design and images usually do the trick.
  • HTML emails should be easy to unsubscribe. Many clients sign up for the service without even realizing that it means receiving a newsletter, while others do that consciously, but after some time they change their mind. If you allow easy unsubscribing, you will avoid sending thousands of emails to junk folders and you will be aware of the actual number of interested clients.
  • Before sending emails, test them to make sure everything appears as designed. Of course, there is no point in testing every client, but sign up for popular web mails like yahoo, gmail, hotmail and AOL. Also, there are services that allow you to get the preview of your finished product on numerous email clients (Litmus, for example, checks out the preview on 33 different web email clients).
